Why we Exist

Decay of Humanity
Identity shift from Hard working Producers of Value to Passive Consumers of trends
For millennia, the global economy depended on cycles of agricultural produce and grew at a sustainable rate along with the population. Manual human labor was an intricate source of energy in production of goods and building civilizations. A value system that nurtured the human spirit and sustained cultures was thus, paramount to the physical and emotional well being of human beings. Because we were producers and the economy depended on us.
Something changed 300 years ago.
We stumbled upon free underground stored energy in the form of fossil fuels. All we had to do was pump it out from the ground. It sparked the Industrial revolution, Scientific Revolution and Technology revolution. Invention of coal and oil powered machines made human muscle power obsolete. Production skyrocketed. Economy boomed. Populations exploded. And we became better and better at draining the planet earth.
Our place in the economy shifted from hard-working producers to passive and pampered consumers. There was no need for nurturing ethics & values anymore. Systems that make us more efficient consumers were brought into action. Passivity, docility, apathy, anxiety and depression are catalysts that promote consumption. A nihilistic and mentally ill society is the best consumer society. And that is what we are are becoming day by day.
Atimanav Foundation is making efforts to slow down and if possible, reverse, this dangerous change. Detaching our individual identities from consumerism and belief in a healthy hierarchy of values is the antidote. And Atimanav is committed to that goal through its various initiatives.
Rate of Production of goods is unsustainable for our planet
Before the discovery of fossil fuels, earth’s natural rhythm of seasons and climate dictated the agricultural produce capacity. Which in turn governed the global economies and kept the human population sizes in check. Through fossil fuels, we increased our capacities of production hundredfold which put a tremendous amount of pressure on the planet’s ecosystem.
Rather than limiting our global industrial production of goods to sustainable levels as per the population, we invented advertising to persuade people to buy more than they needed. As supply chains began to flourish, the demand led to even more and more production. Which is leading to the destruction of the Biosphere - a self contained ecosystem of life on planet earth, of which we have been a harmonious part for millennia. But now we are killing it.
There is an island of plastic trash in the pacific ocean. Ground water is depleting at alarming rates in every part of the world. Soil is losing fertility leading microbial lives in danger. Global temperatures are rising at exceeding levels leading to adverse weather conditions and melting of polar ice caps. The air in our metro cities is already unfit to breath.
Atimanav Foundation has taken up initiatives to spread awareness and deploy measures to reverse and prevent the further destruction of our precious Biosphere. Life on earth cannot survive without it.
